Every parent knows how powerful singing can be for helping children feel happy, safe, secure and connected. This little video gives you some insight into one of the reasons why singing and humming are so calming, basically because it stimulates the vagus nerve which in turn helps take the body out of fight flight (sympathetic nervous system…[Read more]

Hi Ioulia,
What do you imagine he is feeling at these times to result in such an intense expression. Intense expression is showing the intensity of frustration/ distress that he’s experiencing at these times. Even if it sometimes seems like he shouldn’t really be upset, you can be sure that he is definitely feeling some very intense feelings…[Read more]

An approach that I’ve tended to use a lot over the years with hubby (not that I always manage to do it well!) is to acknowledge that it seems like a really stressful situation for them both (hubby and DS/ DD). I a

Hi Liz, a belated response but I wanted to come back to what you shared here about the separation anxiety related to this first year of being in college and leaving the nest. It’s such a huge stage of development and huge life changes for teen and parent alike. But I love how you compare it with the separation anxiety the child goes through when…[Read more]

Toria, I went to find this, what was a really amazing video, by Ben Warren on women’s hormones. And he does also talk about endometriosis. He’s here in NZ and his talks always sell out, he’s just a wealth of wisdom on all things health and nutrition. But alas his video has been deleted by facebook! In fact I’ve now discovered a lot of my…[Read more]

This may be a helpful little video that explains why so many women experience a lot of relief from progesterone cream in their first two weeks of their cycle, to decrease the imbalance between the oestrogen and the progesterone. https://www.facebook.com/BePureWellness/videos/1305132096190281

Hi Toria, I just stumbled on this one. I don’t know if the issue has since been resolved, but what’s really helped me at times has been to book a consultation with my naturopath/ herbalist and she prescribes a herbal brew for me. It could be so many things, adrenals, it could be that you need more good quality carbs at that time, but also herbs…[Read more]

I like how Karen talks about the importance of talking to the early childhood teachers and working with them to make sure that Memphis is getting his love tank filled during the day when he’s apart from you and that the teachers are helping him to feel that mum, dad and teachers are all caring about him and looking after him and all involved with…[Read more]

Hi Tayler,
You are not alone, this is a really really hard situation for us parents to handle. It often stirs up lots of big emotions and feelings and even fear deep inside us.
My girl is 9 year old, and I some times also have to deal with similar situation like this. And, learned from my own experience, I came to realise that it’s not fair to…[Read more] -

Thank you Toria!
I haven’t spoken to my friend about her reactions, it’s SUCH a tricky one to bring up when it’s a friend and it’s not something that they have recognised in themselves. I would hate her think that I have been analysing/ judging her interactions with her kids and although she will often ask for my thoughts on things, I am careful…[Read more]

Yes….I have been so concerned about this recently with all the 5G chatter. It made me realise how much my phone is preset with me. All day. I don’t have a wired connection so rely on my phone or tethering it to my laptop. Not great. I have started putting it on flight mode all day with just a few message checks. I feel a lot better.

Wow that sounds like a lot of stuff! Thanks for sharing. There are a few things I would look at. The antibiotic point seems worth addressing. I would probably recommend seeing a naturopath / homeopath definitely NOT a allopathic doctor to look at possible detox, gut health etc.
