I really recommend exploring John Gottman’s videos.
In this video, he talks about about the predictors of success or failure in couple relationships. He talks about the four more toxic patterns in relationships and gives some advice on what can work better. What you hear will be equally applicable to how we as parents communicate with our children.
And in this one he discusses how to build, or repair, trust. Many of the clients I’ve worked with over the years have come to the sad realisation that trust has broken down in their relationship and if possible, it’s good to create a plan of the steps you need to each, and together, take to rebuild trust.
