Love the approach but what if it happens repeatedly?

Hi Asma, children need this kind of support again and again. Really most of the approaches suggested here are just good practices to develop to continue to maintain that warm connection between the parent and their child. The child will need reminding and encouragement and their parent’s engagement for them to wash their teeth ongoing for years really.

Whether the parent’s approach is authoritarian or permissive or they use these peaceful parenting approaches, it’s just going to take a long time before the parent can simply remind their child to wash their teeth and they’ll run off and just do it.

So what’s most important is that the parent child relationship is maintained, the child’s dignity and self-esteem is maintained, and that the child is continuing to develop positive associations with acts of self-care.

Do you have a specific situation in mind?
