Hi Seonaid, I can really empathise with you. We have a very strong willed 15 month old who is incredibly frustrated when he can’t do everything his 3 year old brother can. I find myself trying to set loving limits and it is so hard. We have tried stress release crying but there seems to be so much at the moment it is torture for all of us, night…[Read more]

Thank you Wendy, you’ve no idea how timely your response actually is! I had two toxic ruptures with my now 9 month old yesterday, I read your reply last night and cried. It helped me forgive myself which I had not been able to do. Bianca, I too find it hard to identify the healing cry moments but tend to go with my gut. Especially, with my 2;9…[Read more]

oh the healing cries are taking their toll on me, it is so hard for everyone. My 2 yr 7 mo old has had two huge meltdowns in the last 5 days, , totally out of character for him. My 7 month old had a huge cry at 4.30 this morning. On Saturday I held the limit lovingly for my older boy and he had a big cry but I felt he hadn’t let it all out. This…[Read more]

Wendy, that is so helpful. My 2 yr 7 month old has recently started biting his nails. Neither I or my husband have this habit so he hasn’t seen it modeled and he only does it when he is really worried about something and it is very recent. Genevieve, I didn’t get to talk to you about this today. It’s not a major issue and I don’t want to make a…[Read more]

Thank you all for your insights and sharing. For me the very act of posting seems to have allowed me to say the words “I forgive myself” and for the first time not feel inauthentic. I was in my happy place running on Friday night and suddenly said to myself “I forgive myself” repeatedly and it felt so freeing. Genevieve, I finally ‘heard’ you when…[Read more]

Who else out there finds self-forgiveness really hard? Right now it feels like my biggest stumbling block. I can forgive others so why do I find it so hard to forgive myself when I have a rupture with my precious boys (2.5 yrs and 6 months)? I know that forgiveness wasn’t modelled for me growing up. The Catholic mentality of self-flagellation and…[Read more]

Hi, I’m Colette, married to Nick and mother to two amazing boys, 2.5 yrs and 6 months. I was born in Ireland. I moved to New Zealand 12 years ago and it has always felt like home. Prior to having children I worked as a speech and language therapist, with children and their families. I love that work and plan to continue clinical work when the boys…[Read more]
